16 year old Warren Zaire-Emery makes Champions League history.

Warren Zaire-Emery played Tuesday night for Paris Saint-Germain in the knock-out stage against the German top club Bayern Munich. This makes him the youngest player to get a starting position in the Champions League knock-out stage.

On August last year he made club history when he debuted as youngest player to play in the league 1 competition. This was a duel against Clermont Foot. Since then he played eleven times in the France national competition. He scored two times during those matches. His debut was against Maccabi Haifa with a 7-2 win. This was his second time playing in the Champions League.

Fun fact is that his teammates such as Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos had their Champions League debut before Zaire-Emery wasn’t even born. On the day that he was born, March 8th 2006 Ramos played with Real Madrid against Arsenal in the 8th final of the Champions League.

Zaire-Emery is a familiar face at the Madrid Football Cup. He competed two years in a row in the Madrid Football Cup Boys Under 14 with Paris Saint-Germain. Also the backfielder of Paris Saint-German, Nuno Mendes who was playing in tuesday’s game, competed in the Madrid Football Cup back in 2015 as well as their opponent from Bayern München Jamal Musiala.
